GROVE CITY REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING                                                                                   March 9th, 2020 @ 7:00PM  MEMBERS PRESENT- Martin, Halterman, Evenson, Peterka, Hudec                                                                               ABSENT-None

AGENDA:  Council member Halterman made a motion to approve the consent to agenda and the minutes from the February 10th, 2020 council meetings. Evenson seconded the motion. Motion carried with all council members voting in favor.

VISITOR RECOGNITION

Bill Houselog came to the council meeting to ask for the council’s approval for the Lion’s Club to hold Bingo. Council member Peterka made a motion to approve Bingo, Hudec seconded the motion. Motion carried with all members voting in favor.

OLD BUSINESS

SOUTH GROVE

Clark read an email from Lisa Graphenteen in regards to the South Grove building and the grant that the city will be going for to help remodel the building. The council asked Clark to reach back out to Lisa about other projects that could be included in the grant.

INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT

Council member Evenson made a motion to send both Bollig and Reiner a letter from our attorney giving them a one week timeframe to give a response as to when they plan on correcting the deficient work, otherwise the city has been given no choice to hire someone else to get the project finished. Halterman seconded the motion. Motion carried with all members voting in favor.

NEW BUSINESS

WATER TOWER: The council decided to not get a water tower mixer at this time. They asked Roering to bring water tower clean out quotes to the next meeting.

MMUA-AWAIR:  Roering informed the council that it is mandated by OSHA that we follow AWAIR mandatory. Roering said that the city had previously approved following AWAIR, they were just updating paperwork. Council member Peterka made a motion for the City of Grove City to follow and comply with AWAIR, Hudec seconded the motion. Motion carried with all members voting in favor.

NEW MOWER: Council decided to table until the May monthly meeting.

SUMMER HELP: It was discussed to eliminate the full time position of seasonal help and hire on a part time 1,000 hour position to help with mowing in the summer. Council member Halterman made a motion to eliminate the full time position and advertise later for a part time position. Evenson seconded the motion, motion carried with all members voting in favor. The new position will be a 1,000 hour position, with a starting pay of $10 an hour.

STAFF


SHERIFF:
There were 19 calls for March, 2020. The council inquired about some of the various calls that happened during the month.

CLERK: City Clerk Clark informed the council that the auditors were going to be in the office March 23rd thru 25th. The elections that were held on April 8th had a turnout of 38 registered voters.

MAYOR MARTIN: Mayor Martin brought up a linoleum issue in an apartment at South Grove. Peterka made a motion to replace the linoleum, Hudec seconded the motion. Motion carried with all members voting in favor. Martin also brought up that his neighbor asked for more gravel on Stark Town Road. Martin also asked about adding on to the Welcome to Grove City signs. He would like to see State Champions on it, and any other prestigious awards the ACGC athletes may win. Martin will get some quotes on pricing.

HALTERMAN: Council member Halterman informed the council that he had spoken to Ron Mortenson and the Rescue Squad received $1,000 from the gambling fund to use for the purchase of a LUCA device.

EVENSON: Council member Evenson brought up allowing kids/the public to use the gym for everyday use. Martin and Evenson will get together to try and come up with some options and bring it back to the next meeting. He also would like letters sent out to the trailer court owners and residents asap to clean up the trailer court.

PETERKA: Council member Peterka had reached out to 201 Building Supply and he will come to a council workshop to discuss the possibilities of building and developing the old football field.

ADJOURNMENT Council member Peterka made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Mayor Martin seconded the motion.  Motion carried with all members voting in favor.
