Augustfest 2012

The festival begins Aug. 16 with a kids tractor pull at 7 p.m. at the Fire Hall and the coronation of royalty at 8:30 p.m. at the community center. A medallion hunt begins Friday, with clues posted at City Hall, Roger’s Liquor and Schmidty’s, and a $50 prize given to the winner during the talent show. Bingo will also be held at 7 p.m. in the community center.

Saturday kicks off with a kids carnival, softball tournament, Women’s Club bake sale and library book sale beginning at 9 a.m., and a kiddie parade at 10 a.m. in Windmill Park. City-wide garage sales and Grove Lake Trail walks will take place all day. A mud volleyball tournament begins at noon, followed by a horseshoe tournament at 1 p.m., and a classic car show from 1 to 4 p.m and a street dance featuring Pandemic from 8:30 p.m. to 12:30 a.m. in Windmill Park.

A community church service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday in Windmill Park, followed by a potluck dinner at 11:30 a.m. A trap shoot tournament at the gun club and the softball tournament will begin at noon Sunday, and Grand Parade units step off at 3:30 p.m. Festivities conclude with a talent/variety show at 5 p.m. at the Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City Junior-Senior High School theater.
